Bakersfield Museum of Art
If you are looking for some place to cool off while enjoying some culture, the Bakersfield Museum of Art has special events and exhibitions for you to enjoy. The current Summer 2016 Exhibitions will be on display at the museum through August 21st. These exhibits are Scenic View Ahead: The Westways Cover Art Program, Bakersfield to Bakersfield: Photography by Felix Adamo, Celebrating 60 Years: The Life and Work of Marion Osborn Cunningham, ISM: Work by BMOA's 2016 ArtWorks Students, and BMOA Collected 1987-2016: History on a Permanent Basis.Every third Friday of the month, the museum provides free admission.
Kern County Fair
Kern County Fair offers events year-round, including a gun show, livestock shows, and food festivals. Upcoming events at the fairgrounds include Bakersfield Collector Con on June 4th, the 18th Annual Latino Food Festival on June 5th, a performance by Los Tucanes De Tijuana on June 10th, and more. Movies in the Park
Bakersfield hosts Movies in the Park events every year where you can go enjoy a movie while relaxing in the grass during the evening. Some of the parks that host these events include Greystone Park, the Park at Riverwalk, Silver Creek Park, Siemon Park, Stonecreek Park, Jastro, and Lowell Park. This event is made possible by the Bakersfield Recreation and Parks Department and you can check the schedule each week to find the details about upcoming moving screenings. The movies are free and you only have to bring your own chairs, blankets and snacks to enjoy.
Brimhall Farmers Market
Brimhall Farmers Market is a great place to shop for local, fresh produce. The next upcoming date for the farmers market is June 4th and there will be plenty of fresh picked seasonal produce available. Vendors at the farmers market also offer honey, fresh bread, jams and other gourmet foods for visitors to sample and purchase. This event takes place in the parking lot at 9500 Brimhall Road.
